Why film?

Film slows things down.

No staring at a screen, no endless retakes. Just your pet being themselves in warm, timeless color. And you get a box of real prints you can hold, not just a download link that gets buried in your camera roll.

  • Colors that feel like a memory

Kodak Portra's warm tones flatter every coat.

  • Nothing to sort through

No 400-photo gallery to cull. One roll, every frame printed.

  • Made to last

Negatives and prints outlive phones, clouds, and passwords.

  • A calmer session

No flash bursts or screen checks. Less stress for your pet.

Behind the camera

Hi, we're JP & Rachel.

We've been professional photographers for 10 years. Our favorite subject these days is Charlie, our 1.5-year-old goldendoodle, and shooting him on film is what made us fall in love with pet portraits.

We know how to work with wiggly, distracted, overexcited dogs, because we live with one. Bring yours, and we'll get the frames you'll want on your wall.

A few honest notes

Not every frame is perfect.

Film means no retakes, and some frames will catch a blink, a yawn, or a tongue mid-lick. That's part of the charm, and you get a print of every single one.

Questions

My dog won't sit still. Is that a problem?+

Not at all. We're not after stiff, posed portraits. We follow your pet's lead and shoot them being themselves: running, sniffing, flopping in the grass. That's where the best frames come from.

When do I get my photos?+

Film has to be developed, scanned, and printed, so your scans and prints arrive in about 1 to 2 weeks. Your negatives come in the same package.

How does payment work?+

You pay $300 when you book. An extra roll, or travel outside Irvine and Newport, is billed separately. The three parks we list are included.

What if the shoot doesn't happen?+

You get a full refund. If something comes up or we can't find a date that works, we'll send your money back.

What if the weather is bad?+

Rain or extreme heat? We'll reschedule for free, or refund you in full if a new date doesn't work.

Can I bring more than one pet?+

Of course. We recommend one pet per roll, but it's not a rule. We just don't like to rush our furry friends. An extra roll adds 36 more frames and 30 more minutes for +$85, so everyone gets their moment.

Can you shoot somewhere other than your parks?+

Irvine and Newport are included, and so are the three parks we love. Anywhere else in Southern California is a $100 travel fee. Your backyard, the beach, your favorite trail.

What should I bring?+

Your pet on a leash, their favorite treats, and a toy that gets their attention. A brush for a quick fluff never hurts.
